Building pace picking up on Encore development in Tampa


The building pace is quickening at Encore, where one apartment complex is fully leased and three more are under construction or nearly ready to build.

The redevelopment on 28 acres just north of downtown Tampa, where public housing once stood, is expected to be completed in five to seven years. The enterprise is a $425-million planned community that will honor the segregation-era Central Avenue district of black-owned businesses, restaurants and nightclubs where entertainers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles and James Brown performed.

Mayor Buckhorn Joins Record-breaking Food Truck Rally at ENCORE!


The Partnership’s Shaun Drinkard coordinated with Encore, Downtown’s Tempo District and event organizer, Generation Food Truck to stage the World’s Largest Food Truck Rally caravan launch at the Encore site. 80+ food trucks lined the streets of Encore early Saturday morning until Mayor Buckhorn “rang the dinner bell,” their signal to begin their caravan to the event site, the Florida State Fairgrounds. Mayor Buckhorn Kicks Off World’s Largest Food Truck Rally at ENCORE!


On Saturday morning, the World’s Largest Food Truck Rally kicked off at ENCORE! in downtown Tampa and Mayor Buckhorn rang the honorary dinner bell.

“I am so proud that Tampa holds the record for the World’s Largest Food Truck Rally. The event put Tampa on the map, and proved to cities like Miami and Chicago that Tampa is where it’s at for foodies, food trucks, and craft beer.”
